Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie Dog

SCOOTER the Dog needs a home

Meet Your Match Evaluation: Purple – Constant Companion -“Looking for an emotionally secure, mutually satisfying, low-maintenance relationship? I am all you need. Let me sit at your feet, walk by your side, and I’ll be your devoted companion forever.”

Scooter is a little darling and so very brave! He came to us with an injury after being hit by a car and could barely walk. Happily, he is recovering beautifully after surgery and healing up so well. We can now take him on short walks and we love sitting next to him on one of the outdoor benches just hanging out. He is also a snuggler!

Scooter is five years old and his large, expressive brown eyes will quickly capture your heart!

The ideal home for Scooter would be a calm and quiet environment where someone could be home most of the time. He would also do best in a family without small children and where he is the only dog. Scooter does get along with cats.

Because of his injury, Scooter is not housebroken. One of our staff explains that when Scooter was in the veterinary clinic "he had to stay outside and not be allowed to come back in until he goes. If Scooter realizes that you won't let him in until he goes then he will finally do his business. I don't think his back will let him squat to pee or poop anymore but he does have control over it. Scooter holds it in the vet clinic and we take him out three times a day." Puppy pads will be helpful in the house.

One of our shelter employees took Scooter home for a couple of days and reports "Scooter did well on the car ride and sat in his bed in the passenger seat. He does well with older (not active) children. He likes to lay next to people, but is not super affectionate - he just seems shy. Scooter can be picked up and carried to where you need him to go. I only heard him bark once when the doorbell rang. He slept well throughout the night."

Scooter is heartworm positive and his treatment is being provided by the shelter at no cost to his adopter. This involves 30 days of medicine, two days of treatment and 30 days of rest/recovery time. Our staff would be happy to discuss the procedure with you.
